Vision of Paradise - 'the Gospel According to Scratch'

Jamaican born Lee Perry known as ‘Scratch' or the ‘Upsetter’ is a living music legend, a true icon of popular culture! In the early 1970s Perry was one of the first producers whose mixing board experiments resulted in the creation of dub. In 1973, Perry built a studio in his back yard, the Black Ark, producing notable musicians such as Bob Marley & the Wailers, The Congos, The Heptones and Max Romeo. Besides being an innovate musician, producer extraordinaire, 'Scratch' is a comedian, painter, sculptor, poet and mystic. The new film featuring and based on 'Scratch' is appropriately titled, ‘Vision Of Paradise’.

I have had the great pleasure of working with Volker Schaner, the Director of 'Vision Of Paradise’ and the Producer, Daniela Schmid. Volker was the Director of Photography and Daniela was one of the Producers on a film that I just completed, 'Dreadlock Rock’: the Story of Reggae Music'. 'Dreadlock Rock' is a 2 1/2 hour in-depth documentary on Jamaican music and it's far reaching influence from it's earliest beginnings to the present. This same kind of commitment including 13 years of research and development has gone into the making of 'Visions Of Paradise'.

From Jamaica to Ethiopia to Switzerland and parts unknown Volker has filmed Lee Perry performing, painting and preaching the 'the Gospel According to Scratch'.

It's close to completion so jump on the 'Black Ark' and help finish this soon to be a classic film, 'Vision Of Paradise'.
